The Weight of Waiting

There are seasons in life when movement seems easy.

Doors open.

Decisions feel clear.

Progress comes naturally.

Then there are seasons of waiting.

Waiting can be one of the most difficult experiences we face because it often feels unproductive. We live in a world that celebrates action, achievement, and constant progress. When nothing appears to be moving, we can begin to question ourselves, our circumstances, and even our faith.

Yet waiting is not always a sign that something is wrong.

Sometimes waiting is where strength is formed.

A seed does not break through the soil the moment it is planted. Roots must first develop beneath the surface. The growth is hidden long before it becomes visible.

The same can be true in our lives.

There are moments when we are eager for answers, eager for change, and eager for direction. Yet God may be doing a deeper work within us before revealing what comes next.

Waiting often teaches us things that movement cannot.

It teaches patience.

It teaches trust.

It teaches us to separate our identity from our accomplishments.

Most importantly, it reminds us that our peace cannot be dependent upon circumstances alone.

Isaiah 40:31 offers a powerful promise:

"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Notice that the promise is not simply that the waiting will end.

The promise is that strength will be renewed during the waiting.

If you find yourself in a season where answers seem delayed, do not assume that nothing is happening.

Growth is often taking place beneath the surface.

What feels like a pause may actually be preparation.

Reflection Question:

What are you learning in this season that you may not have learned if everything had happened according to your timetable?

Take a few moments today to reflect, pray, and consider where strength may be developing beneath the surface.
